Developing An Ozark Green Thumb

Sowbug Roundup 2015
A Celebration of Fly Fishing

Demonstrations by 100+ Expert Tyers, Seminars, Tying & Casting Instruction, Drawings, & Auctions

The Sowbug Roundup is a three day fly tying and fly fishing show that is held every March in Mountain Home Arkansas. 2015 will be the 18th year that the North Arkansas Fly Fishers (NAFF) have put on the Sowbug Roundup. The first Sowbug had 20 tyers and 150 attendees. The 2014 Sowbug had over 100 fly tiers and over 1000 attendees.
 
Dates are:  March 26th, 27th and 28th
Hours are:  9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Cost:          $5.00 per person
Location:     Baxter County Fairgrounds

2015 Shawnee~Supreme Invitational Trout Tournament

 

The 2015 Shawnee~Supreme Invitational Trout Tournament will be held at Cotter's Big Spring Park on Saturday March 28, 2015.  The Trout Invitational is a one day fishing tournament where both skilled and novice two man teams can come together to not only test their fishing skills against the competition but have a chance to be around other anglers who share the same passion all while enjoying friendly food, drinks, prizes and the opportunity to Win A Brand New 2015 Shawnee~Supreme River Boat & Trailer with all the bells and whistles! The Cotter~Gassville Rural Fire Department Presents 'GO HOG WILD' their annual All You Can Eat BBQ Fund Raiser.

The Baxter County Master Gardeners will have their annual Plant Sale on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm or until plants run out.  Location will be at the Horticultural Center at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.  Prices are unbeatable.

14th Annual Cotter Trout Festival

The Cotter Trout Festival is always a sure bet when it comes to fun, food, appealing music and entertainment.   The Festival is held in Big Spring Park and allows an opportunity for Cotter citizens and the surrounding region to come and enjoy a fun filled day along the White River.  

This year’s Community wide festival Kicks Off Friday evening with music, mingling and a meal.  The 7th Annual White River Artists competitive “Quick Draw” takes place in Big Spring Park from 4:30 – 5:30 and we can all enjoy their creative results as we share a meal, music and another performance of Cutthroat Trout…the Gypsy Jazz Band that wowed everyone last year. 14th Annual Cotter Trout Festival

 

Saturday starts off early with Vendor set-up at 7 a.m. – (Vendor application below) followed by the best hometown parade anywhere. Be sure to check out the Kids’ fishing whole, fly-casting demonstration with North Arkansas Fly Fishers, Festival Food to die for…auctions, Classic Car Show, and live music throughout the day.  Relax, unwind and enjoy the wide variety of educational exhibits and unique vendors displaying of art, jewelry, photography and unique handmade crafts.  Vendors, don’t delay.  Register your vendor booth today if you would like to showcase your business at the festival.

Saturday, June 6th, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

In Gassville City Park located on Hwy 345 South

Events Include:

  • 5 K Run/1 Mile Fun Walk
  • Parade at 10:00 a.m.
  • Burgers, Hot Dogs, and the fixings along with Ice Cream, Funnel Cakes, and Sno-Cones
  • Musical Entertainment 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by Crossfire, The High Strung Band and Southern Faith
  • Car Show and Automotive Swap Meet
